Klong Kloi is one of the island's most remote, most beautiful beaches

Klong Kloi Beach is something of an anomaly on Koh Chang – it's one of the few beaches neither on the island's west coast nor does it face the sunset. This enigmatic little beach is hidden away on the farthest corner of the island, facing directly south. From Klong Kloi beach you can easily see the one-time fishing village and jetty of Bang Bao, and the hundreds of tourists who pour into here on tours each day. Yet looking back from the jetty people have no idea that they are looking at a beach with several beachfront hotels. Nothing more than a few beach umbrellas is visible, with all buildings hidden by a thick, natural tree line.
.
With natural forest completely surrounding it, Klong Kloi is exceptionally pretty, as is the journey through greenery to get there. All four resorts and a few little restaurants on the main part of the beach have fitted themselves into the natural forest in a commendably eco-friendly manner. The huge resort that occupies the entire east end of Klong Kloi is a creation of another kind, something like a beach theme park spread over grounds so enormous guests are given bicycles to get around, and are shuttled about in golf buggies (though it had closed indefinitely at the time of writing, 2017).
.
The west side of the beach is rather shallow, and at low tide there is not enough water for swimming. The east end, however, is deep and an excellent swimming beach at all tides.
.
The beach is cut into two by the deep estuary of an inlet. Swimming is the only way to cross. The east side, with its deserted resort, is quiet. This, with water that remains quite deep at low tide, offers the best swimming conditions on the whole island. Virtually every other beach is simply so shallow it has little or no water at low tide, and not so much at high tide..
