Ao Nui Beach
How to get the lowest hotel rates in Thailand beach resorts?
Book directly with the hotel – by cutting out agents you save cash for the hotels, and they often return some of that saving to guests. We take no commission.
thus we identify hotels that GUARANTEE, in writing, discounts for those who book the hotel directly. See the guarantee list by the Thailand map, then contact hotels via the e-mail box on each hotel page.
We also sell DISCOUNT ROOM VOUCHERS – the very cheapest rooms on Thai beaches – but they are limited in number. See Top Deals on the Thailand page or click to see all Thailand deals.
Want a kilometre of beach to yourself? Here at Ao Nui, well down the Gulf of Thailand coast, you can have ten. This is just about the most isolated stretch of beach you can find with a luxury hotel. There’s a tiny village close to X2 Kui Buri resort, then not much else for many miles. The beach is long, straight and virtually unused; ideal for those seeking absolute solitude and a natural beach.
To the north of the resort a number of small rivers cut the beach, and provide anchorages for small fishing craft. Another six kilometres of empty beach run south to Ao Noi, a large fishing community marked by the sudden rise of a mountain of karst rock. Here we find a famous Buddhist temple with two large reclining Buddhas in a cave buried deep in the limestone rock. From Ao Noi it’s a short drive into Prachaup town, which offers lots of dining and drinking venues, along with shopping.
Most visitors to this X2 resort arrive by car from Bangkok, with a surge in visitors each weekend as both Thais and expats flee the city. The drive takes about four hours. Despite its near complete isolation, the resort offers guests a range of touring options. For more info about see our guide to Prachaup province.
