Bophut Beach has a variety of beach hotels, some entertainment and fun markets

Bophut is another of Koh Samui's special beaches with an atmosphere all its own, and regular visitors who love this area above all others. Most beach accommodation is found at the Western end, ranging from budget beach cottages to 5-star luxury resorts. There are some smaller and cheaper beach hotels in the East, which we draw into a separate beach map.

However, Bophut's most famous, iconic attraction is the fisherman's village at mid beach. Here is a quaint wine & dine, beach bar and shopping village like no other on the island. There is little beachfront accommodation here, though many visitors come to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and fine food.

This is an old fishing community and boat transit point that has turned to tourism completely, though in doing so has manager to retain most of its original buildings, now renovated into shops and restaurants. These form a narrow row overhanging the beach. The small back road is sometimes turned into a walking street.

Some restaurants place tables on the sand, creating great spots for a romantic dinner. Cuisine focuses on Thai seafood, with displays of fish, crabs, squid and shellfish etc. on ice trays at the entrance of several. And of course one will find tom yum kung, som tum, Thai curries and other famous Thai dishes.

A few foreigners have opened restaurants here also, and offer national dishes from their own lands, and international favourites. All restaurants & bars here offer pretty sea views towards Koh Phangan to the north.
